Chloé Prunier, PhD, Senior Project Manager at INOVOTION, recently gave a lecture at the thematic school at the ESI Archamps, called “Bioproduction: from lab to industrialization”, highlighting the integration of New Alternative Methods (NAMs) in the preclinical development of biological therapeutics.
Her lecture offered 3rd year biotech students a comprehensive look at biological drug development and the transformative role of NAMs.
Key Takeaways:
Challenges + milestones in bioproduction & preclinical validation of biotherapeutics –
Explored in vivo models, their regulatory evolution, and the impacts of the 3Rs principle on animal experimentation across Europe.
Detailed how NAMs—like organoids and the avian embryo platform—are reshaping early drug development, reducing reliance on traditional animal studies while enhancing prediction of efficacy and safety.
Illustrated real-world applications of the chicken CAM (chorioallantoic membrane) model for efficacy, toxicity, and mechanistic studies in oncology drug pipelines.
We are grateful to the organizing committee and attendees for advancing the dialogue around preclinical models and integration of NAMs. For those developing next-generation therapeutics, Inovotion’s integrated approach offers solutions to critical R&D challenges.
